"The best sound in London"

Andy Cato, Groove Armada

Nestling under the Westway in Notting Hill, West London, the Neighbourhood nightclub (recently re named No. 12) throbs to the sound of Funktion One. Blue Box had the privilege of being asked to create a sound system from scratch for the new venue founded by Ben Watt and Alan Grant. After several consultations at the venue Ben's discerning ears and the relevant areas of his cerebellum were tantalised by a full installation of Funktion One Resolution loudspeakers.

The system comprised of 6 Res 4s and 6 F218s; 4 stacks arranged as a pair each side of the stage where they fulfilled their role as two corners of the dance floor system, or for live band nights, a conventional left and right stage system, and a single flown Res 4 and a bunkered F218 a side at the rear of the dance floor. Fills were provided by the tiny but powerful F 88 boxes, a more conventional design of cabinet than the striking Axheads that provide the defined mid range sound of the "Resolution" series. The celebrated Groove Armada club night "Love Box" returns here this year. In it's previous incarnation in the club Andy Cato was quoted as saying the Neighbourhood sound system was "the best sound in London". The club has also played host to The DJ awards, sets from Josh Wink, Frankie Knuckles, Louis Vega, Ben Watt and many other top DJs and bands, many drawn to this part of West London by the reputation of Neighbourhood's Blue Box Funktion One sound system.
